Almeda Mary Galloway

July 22, 1921 — December 12, 2022

Almeda Mary Teague Galloway, 101 years of age, of Nashville, IL passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Friendship Manor in Nashville, Il.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Waters Funeral Home.  Rev. Bob Hoehn will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. 

Visitation celebrating Almeda's life will be held at 12:00 pm until the time of the service Saturday at the Waters Funeral Home. 

Almeda was born on July 22, 1921, in Laverne, OK, the daughter of Edgar Ray and Elsie Stotler Teague.

Almeda was united in marriage to Chester Durward Galloway on March 31, 1946, in Mexico, MO and he preceded her in death on September 28,1991.

Almeda is survived by her two children, Kay (Jerry) Cragen of Nashville, IL, and Allan Galloway of Edelstein, IL; two grandchildren, Shana (Shane) Placher of Chillicothe, IL and Scott (Jennifer) Cragen of Okawville; IL, five great grandchildren, Mason, Gunnar, and Maddox Placher of Chillicothe, IL and Kaylyn and Lillian Cragen of Okawville, IL; sister-in-law, Theresa Teague of Vandalia, MO; special friend, Jane Webster of Laddonia, MO; and many other relatives and friends.

Almeda was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brother, Edgar (Bud) Teague; and sister, Edith Ridgeway.

Almeda was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vandalia for 60 years where she helped in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and helped prepare and serve many church dinners and funeral dinners.

As a youth Almeda worked in defense plants in California and Kansas, later she worked at Van-Far school preparing and serving school meals, then at several factories in the area. She loved playing cards, bingo, gardening, cooking, and making quilts.

Almeda loved her Lord, believed in prayer, and was a faithful daily reader of the Bible.

The family would like to thank the relatives and friends over the years that sent cards, letters, flowers, and prayers for her.

Pallbearers will be Floyd Vogt, Shane Placher, Scott Cragen, Dean Middleton, Mark Wise, Gordon Teague.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you donate to a food pantry in Vandalia or Laddonia, or to Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, or do a good deed for someone, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
