Alberta Mae (Day) Hoover passed away at 8:35 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2010 at her home in Vandalia. She grew up and attended schools in the rural Williamsburg, Missouri area. Alberta moved to Vandalia with her husband Raymond in 1943. She worked at the Elzea Egg and Poultry business for a few years and then worked at Granny McCollums service station in Vandalia. Alberta then worked at the Shell Station in Vandalia in the 70's and 80's as the manager. She was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in rural Fulton and enjoyed cooking, gardening and flowers for her hobbies.
Born: August 15, 1921 in rural Callaway County, Missouri the daughter of George and Lida (Wilson) Day.
Married: Raymond Elmo Hoover on June 7, 1941 in Fulton, Missouri; he preceded her in death on December 23, 1986.
Survivors include: four sons: Donald R. and wife, Donna Hoover of Vandalia; Charles E. and wife, Kathleen Hoover of Vandalia; Roger D. and wife, Connie Hoover of Vandalia; Monte L. and wife, Diana Hoover of Bowling Green, Missouri; one daughter, Phyllis L. and husband, Olin Fugit of Rocheport, Missouri; one sister, Genevieve Leeper of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; six grandchildren: Dea Hoover of St. Louis; Pamela Perkins of Vandalia; Mike Hoover of Mexico, Missouri; Michelle Benskin of Denver, North Carolina; Nathan Hoover of Bowling Green; Darin Fugit of Columbia, Missouri; nine great-grandchildren: Bryan Evans, Beth Ann Straube, Dylan Hoover, Austin Hoover, Joshua Hoover, Dustin Perkins, Amanda Perkins; Carter Fugit and Charlie Fugit; great-great-grandson: Ty Evans.
Preceded in death by: parents; husband, Raymond; two brothers: Harry Day and Spencer Day; one sister: Heleen Hughes.
